Recognizing the rapidly growing need for high quality, efficient and cost-effective observation medical services, MCES initiated and collaborated with the Detroit Medical Center to develop and maintain two very successful Observation Medicine Units. MCES physicians and leadership understand that their patients desire rapid, accurate and compassionate care. Using professionally-reviewed protocols, the Clinical Decision Units allow our highly trained clinicians to treat and observe patients in a quiet, comfortable setting in order to determine the most appropriate disposition (hospital admission or out-patient care). The patient is able to have rapid access to necessary advanced testing such as cardiac stress tests or MRIs as indicated–in less than 24 hours! Dr. Philip A. Lewalski oversees both Harper University Hospital’s CDU which opened in 2011 and Detroit Receiving Hospital’s 3T which followed in 2012.
