Medical Center Emergency Services is an independent, non-profit, academic based group of Emergency Medicine physicians. We currently staff all four of the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) adult Emergency Departments in the Metro Detroit area. We also staff two Observation Medicine units at Harper and Detroit Receiving Hospitals. All of our Emergency Medicine physicians are also faculty in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Wayne State University. We are dedicated to providing safe, high-quality, efficient care in an evidence based teaching environment.
Our two high-volume hospitals are Detroit Receiving Hospital (DRH) and Sinai-Grace Hospital (SGH). Both sites maintain an ACGME Emergency Medicine residency program. We also staff the Harper University Hospital Emergency Department, which is located on the DMC central campus and connected by a tunnel to both DRH and to Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Additionally, we staff Huron Valley Sinai-Hospital Emergency Department, a busy suburban-based department in the Northwest suburbs, and DMC Surgery Hospital Urgent Care located in Madison Heights.
Our Emergency Medcine physicians provide the most optimal, safe and highest-quality patient care. Medical Center Emergency Services supports the Detroit Medical Center’s clinical excellence goals in collaboration with Wayne State University. Satisfaction relates to our patient’s perception of quality and efficient care. We strive in the following areas of clinical excellence to deliver this perception.
MCES seeks others who recognize the importance of clinical excellence and are willing to become active in solving the problems that face the current health care delivery industry. At present, we employ approximately one hundred twenty full-time physicians, most of whom are either board certified or residency trained in Emergency Medicine. Each physician is expected to work 140 hours per month providing patient care, and / or administrative support, in one or more of our hospitals in order to be eligible for our comprehensive fringe benefit package.
