Medical Center Emergency Services staffs the four Detroit Medical Center emergency departments in the metro Detroit area.
Our partnership with Detroit Medical Center (DMC) includes clinical and administrative integrations. Many of our emergency medicine physicians serve as chiefs of staff, chief medical officers, vice presidents, or presidents at DMC. Academically, many of our physicians oversee undergraduate and graduate education programs at Wayne State Medical School.
Medical Center Emergency Services is committed to the following: provide superlative emergency medicine care to all patients seeking care, including a very large indigent population; deliver the highest level of education in the theory and practice of emergency medicine to medical students of the Wayne State University School of Medicine and Central Michigan University School of Medicine and to the residents of two Detroit Medical Center emergency medicine residency programs; support the expansion of the knowledge base of emergency medicine through robust basic science and clinical research; have all physician employees of medical center emergency services serve as faculty members of the Wayne State University School of Medicine; offer leadership on a local, state and national level for clinical and academic emergency medicine; provide for philanthropic efforts that enable the respective missions of Medical Center Emergency Services.
A team dedicated to teaching
We are proud to be affiliated with both Wayne State University and Central Michigan University. All of our physicians serve as faculty members within the emergency medicine programs. Our physicians focus on delivering the best patient care with involvement at the national, regional, and local levels.
We established two fully accredited three-year residencies in emergency medicine in 1976 and 1981. We offer fellowships in administration, EMS, palliative care, research, toxicology, education, sports medicine, global health, and ultrasound. Research is the cornerstone of an academic discipline, and we actively participate in clinical and benchmark research.
